From Jane Antonia Cornish’s aptly named “Portrait” from 2015 to a piece inspired by Sæunn’s grandfather’s poetry by Melia Watras, the program explores various multifaceted connections between performer and composer.  More...

Composers and Vocalists Christina Wheeler and Rodolfo Cordova perform works that inhabit the space between composition, improvisation, vocal and electronic music. They both met while touring with the Art Ensemble of Chicago and have continued to pursue solo careers that inhabit the liminal zone of electronic music with an emphasis on the voice. Wheeler will perform her work Tres Es un Número Mágico: Kaleidoscopic Triptychs, a three-part, solo composition in audience-generated, chance order and direction, for voice, electric mbira, electric autoharp, Q-Chord, delay loops, and electronic effects processing. Cordova will be presenting a solo set of both improvised and
composed vocal/electronic music that incorporates extended vocal techniques, loops and samples. Doors at 7:30 PM and music at 8:00 PM.  More...

François Houle’s solo tour of the West Coast continues with his special-guest appearance here, playing for the first time with this now ongoing-trio of Bay Area improvisers.
